In case you missed it, we hosted our biggest campaign to date: The NFT XCM Idea Hunt! Over 400 users participated to learn more about NFT XCM, transfer NFTs, ideate unique NFT use cases within the Polkadot ecosystem, and win some special rewards. 

The campaign sees you go on a 3-part journey with 300 DOT in prizes given away – testing NFT functionality in the latest NFT XCM demo, learning about NFT XCM in quizzes, and last but not least, creating innovative ideas describing potential cross-chain NFT use cases.

1st Place: Coretime Trading Reinvented with NFT XCM

Frustrated with the current Polkadot Coretime buying experience, our 1st place winner proposes a unique solution: convert Coretime into tradable NFT XCM assets using Unique Network’s technology. 

By enabling seamless cross-chain trading of Coretime via DEXes like Hydration and AssetHub, this idea introduces a secondary market that unlocks liquidity, accessibility, and real market dynamics. 

It not only simplifies the process but also drives adoption across the Polkadot ecosystem, potentially saving projects and generating millions in value.

2nd Place: Cross-Chain Achievement NFTs for Gamified DAOs

Our 2nd place winner tackles one of Polkadot’s most pressing gaps: fragmented user identity across parachains. 

The solution? Achievement Soulbound NFTs (ASNs) are powered by NFT XCM – non-transferable, evolving NFTs that capture user contributions like governance votes, DAO participation, or battle pass progress, and sync them across chains. 

From earning voting badges on Bifrost to unlocking DeFi boosts on Moonbeam or DAO roles on Astar, this unified identity system strengthens interoperability, encourages deeper engagement, and showcases the power of NFT XCM for portable reputation across the Polkadot multichain.

Chains Involved:

  • Unique Network: NFT minting, metadata storage, and identity management.
  • Bifrost: Origin of governance-based achievement NFTs.
  • Astar: Use of ASN for gated community access and on-chain roles.
  • Moonbeam: Integration of ASN to modulate DeFi yield farming rewards.

3rd Place: “Dave Will & Testament NFT” — Cross-Chain Inheritance for the Digital Age

Our final winner, taking in 3rd, introduces the Dave Will NFT, a programmable, encrypted NFT that acts as a living will across Polkadot’s multichain ecosystem. 

Built with privacy (Phala), identity verification (KILT), and cross-chain execution (Moonbeam, Astar), it enables users to securely pass on their digital assets, access rights, and reputations after death. 

More than your average NFT use case, this idea is a visionary protocol for decentralized inheritance, transforming NFTs into vessels of legacy, trust, and continuity through the power of NFT XCM.

Chains Involved:

  • Phala: Creation and encryption of sensitive Dave Will NFT. 
  • Kilt: Identity verification, death validation, and social recovery.
  • Moonbeam: Executes programmable smart contract-based asset transfers.
  • Astar/Unique Network: Transfers gaming/art NFTs, access rights, or DAO roles.

What is the NFT XCM Demo?

NFT XCM has been live in devnet since last year, but now we’re making it easier to explore. This is the first look at the NFT XCM Demo in a live, interactive demo and user interface (UI). 

This live demo successfully showcases how NFTs and digital assets can be seamlessly transferred between Polkadot parachains and roll-ups using XCM.

This includes:

  • Cross-Chain Transfers: Easy and seamless NFT transfers between Unique and Polkadot’s Asset Hub.
  • First-of-its-kind simple and user-friendly UI implementation of XCM for NFTs.
  • Easy-to-use process: No need to be a developer or have any knowledge of coding.
