Challenge

Mythical Games wanted to give players true ownership of digital assets. Having built on an but Ethereum side chain, they experienced slow transactions, high fees, and lack of interoperability which made scaling difficult.

Even with Layer 2 solutions, the network couldn’t support the millions of daily transactions needed for a seamless gaming experience.

They needed a more reliable platform that could handle large-scale gaming economies, support asset ownership, and integrate smoothly with other platforms, while guaranteeing security.

Solution

To overcome these challenges, Mythical Games migrated from Ethereum to Polkadot and launched the Mythos Chain, a dedicated gaming blockchain built for speed, low costs, and seamless interoperability.

The transition included migrating over 6 million accounts from EVM-based smart contracts to Polkadot’s infrastructure.

This move allowed them to process millions of transactions daily, maintain compatibility with mainstream platforms like the Epic Games Store, and ensure security and decentralization for their growing ecosystem.

Impact

The migration was seamless, with Mythos Chain maintaining continuous marketplace functionality throughout. Within 48h of migration, 3m transactions were processed.

Since then, Mythical has issued, burned, and transferred over 16m NFTs, supporting vibrant in-game economies. Their blockchain-powered game NFL Rivals became a major success, processing millions of transactions without technical issues.

With 5.6m+ monthly active wallets, Mythical Games is now leading the next generation of blockchain gaming on Polkadot.
